ProcedureGather the children around.Scenario: Grobby has a house to build and he needs lots and lots of bricks. He has to bring loads of bricks from the brick factory to the building site. However, there are very strict rules. He can only bring 9 bricks at a time or he could be in serious trouble with the traffic police. Lorries cannot be carrying too heavy a load. Drive off to the site and unload the bricks.Return and re-load the lorry with double brick stacks - count in 2,4,6,8, am I ready to go? - Oh teacher, you need one more brick! Add 1 more. Check by recounting, then deliver to the site. Drive to the site and unload the bricks. What other ways could the lorry be loaded e.g. 3+3+3 etc.In pairs the children draw and write down ways that the lorry could be loaded with bricks.TasksPresent each child with a copy of the task sheet. Draw 9 bricks in Grobby%u2019s lorry. Write the number %u20189%u2019 and the word %u2018nine%u2019. Complete the equations.42
