Ask various children to hold up their stack of 9 bricks and say what their colours are e.g. my 9 are 2 orange, 2 green, 2 yellow, 1 dark blue, 1 red and 1 light blue etc.Ask the children to look around the room with their maths eyes, to find things that there are just 9 of e.g. there are 9 paintings on the ceiling. There are 9 tiles in a row. There are 9 boys in our class.Play with the bricks%u2022 How many ways can you build a 9-brick tower?%u2022 Who can build the fastest 9-brick tower, end on end or side on side?%u2022 How many ways can you connect your 9 bricks?1.
