                                    Lesson 22: Grobby loves the four seasonsProvide an introduction such as: %u201cThe seasons are four different times during the year with different types of weather.%u201d The four seasons are called spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Seasons change throughout the year because of the way the earth moves. In this lesson, students are introduced to the signs and vocabulary associated with different seasons as Grobby plays with the lambs, makes sandcastles, gathers fallen leaves and makes a snowman.TasksLearning outcomes%u2022 We are learning words and vocabulary connected with seasons%u2022 We are learning about the four seasons%u2022 We are learning to describe the how the season affects the weather%u2022 We are learning the months of the yearMaterials4 index cards with the name of each season. 12 labels, 1 for each month. Pictures associated with each season.ProcedureTalk about the seasons in Ireland:%u2022 Spring (represented by Green Brick): lambs, daffodils, St. Patrick%u2019s Day%u2022 Summer (represented by Yellow Brick): foals, beach, holidays, flowers, sun, ice-cream%u2022 Autumn (represented by Orange Brick): harvesting corn, leaves on the ground and some on the trees, Halloween%u2022 Winter (represented by Blue Brick): no leaves on the trees, snowman, ChristmasHave a bunch of cut-out pictures that evidence characteristics of each month. Deal out the pictures 1 by 1 and discuss each picture in relation to time of year, month and season. Have the name of each season written in big letters on index cards. Spread out the 4 index cards. Have children move the prepared pictures to the corresponding season to demonstrate and evidence understanding. You might also have 12 small cards, each carrying the name of a different month.
