MTF - Maths for Third & Fourth

Inspiring ideas, software, lessons and games.

About the Course

Are you looking for some refreshing ideas for teaching Mathematics in third & fourth class? Searching for additional approaches to expose your students to problems much more than to facts, where problem solving is at the heart of your mathematics lessons? We’ll not only ‘sum up’ all the key teaching ideas for you, we’re confident we’ll increase your available resources by ‘multiples’.

This self-paced online course engages teachers in considering many aspects of and teaching approaches in each of the 5 strands of mathematics: Number, Algebra, Shape & Space, Measures, Data and Algebra.

Upon completion, teachers will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key mathematical concepts and processes, and the most appropriate approaches for assisting children in third and fourth class acquire those concepts through stimulus activities. Participants will be provided with numerous stimulating teaching resources for each strand unit.

NOTE:

The online format of this course enables you to study at a time and place that best suits your own needs.

"I found this course to be excellent. The reading was relevant and not packed with jargon, the resources hugely helpful and the layout extremely easy to use. Thank you for the download section, it made it so much easier! I also think you may have saved me hours searching for or making PowerPoints as you have provided so many. I will definitely be using many of the invaluable resources recommended. I look forward with enthusiasm to teaching maths next year and to sharing the resources with my colleagues." - Ann, 2018
