I39 - We're All Surfing Now

The Internet as a resource to support curriculum delivery.

The ‘Super Sleuths’ of CPD College have tracked down all the best interactive web resources and corralled them into the confines of our five course modules, waiting for you to simply log-in, check them out and download all for use back in the classroom in September. Not only that, we combine and integrate web work and resources with sound curricular ideas and best practice. A course for any teacher looking to integrate rich interactive whiteboard content into classroom lesson delivery, to support and exemplify concepts and to illustrate and enliven content knowledge.

In this self-paced on-line course participants will explore ‘The Net as an Interactive Tool for the Classroom’. Participants will be introduced to and explore ‘WebQuests on the Net’, appreciate that the Net is a Treasure Trove of Support Materials for Maths and Literacy, will be introduced to the fantastic resources available on the Internet to support the delivery of the SESE curriculum and will be directed to the many internet based resources for Art, Music and P.E. lesson planning and delivery.

The on-line format of the course enables you to study when and where you want to learn. Content is divided into 5 modules which you can complete in any order at any time.

Participants are encouraged to interact with one another using the communication tools (forum, chat, e-mail) provided by the CPD College learning system. Active facilitation throughout the course provides expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all participants. Assignments and questions which call for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned response punctuate this highly interactive web based course.

On completion of this course each participant can download their CPD record and Certificate of completion. The Certificate of completion demonstrates your achievement in completing this professional development course.

Learning outcomes

Through engagement with the course content and through the sharing of successful internet strategies for the integration of I.C.T. into classroom teaching, we anticipate that the knowledge and insights gained by participants will positively impact on their classroom teaching in the coming year. Teachers will appreciate the internet as a resource and will know how to find and apply the best internet resources in their teaching.
